Easter Weekend

We started out our Easter weekend by coloring some Easter eggs. We got everything all ready to go. Then Alyssa helped put an egg in each of the colors.

She made sure that each egg got turned so that we'd have equal color all over.

And even decorated some with stickers. It was a fun way to start our weekend!

After our fun morning, we headed out to meet friends for lunch. It had been a while since Alyssa and Cole had seen each other but they had fun at lunch which must have given them some extra energy because they were running all around!!

The kids even got to go on a few merry-go-round rides outside the restaurant. These horses were a LOT less intimidating than the ones at the zoo and for a quarter a ride, it was a lot cheaper too! :) Jacob was just happy that he got to participate!

The fun did not stop there. The kids fell asleep on the car ride home and took a nice nap while Mommy invited friends over later that day. It had also been a while (have I mentioned we've been busy??) since we've seen the McGees and the Foxes so we had them all over for a playdate and pizza. Alyssa was so excited to see Meghan and Olivia and we got some pictures of the girls together.

The girls took off in the yard like they were on a mission which was quite different from last year.

Meanwhile, Jacob was not having as much fun with the girls since he's not as mobile (you can walk anytime Jacob!!!) and tried to entertain himself as much as he could with the eggs around him.

Definitely a busy but fun day with friends. We had a lot of fun and it was nice to hang out with our friends we had not seen in a while.

Easter morning, the kids woke up and Alyssa immediately saw the baskets (that I even forgot I put out...I mean..the Easter Bunny put out the night before).

Since we were up early, we made plans to go to our usual Sunday morning spot - yup, the zoo! We also had Cole and Jason come meet us out at the zoo. The weather was great and Jacob enjoyed cruising on the statues in the front. I think he was a little confused though.

We fed our giraffes....(Alyssa is getting a little braver!)

and can't make it out of the zoo without Alyssa asking for a carousel ride. She begged and begged to go on it (and she's smiling even though she's still a little scared!!)

The kids were being crazy crawling around the floor in the koala exhibit and wore themselves out before we headed out to nap at home.

After nap time, Mommy let the kids dive into their chocolate bunnies which didn't turn out to be as big a hit as expected. Alyssa took a few bites and then said she was done.

and Jacob definitely prefers his fruit over this (though he is fond of single M&Ms). The rest of the day was spent lazily at home since we had such a busy rest of the weekend and the kids played and entertained each other. They are at such a cute age where they can interact more and Jacob is always near his sister scoping out what she's getting into.

It makes me so happy to see how much they love each other and are constantly cracking each other up at the silliest things! I hope they continue to stay this close! (wishful thinking I know...but it could happen!)

And of course the weekend would not be complete without a little mischief. Jacob had earlier in the week opened up my buffet and attempted to "play with" (break) all of our nice crystal wine glasses (that we've yet to use by the way). Luckily I got to him in time (after I heard glasses being clinked together) and now there is a bungee cord keeping the buffet doors shut. Anyway, Jacob is a very determined child. He's definitely determined NOT to walk (or stand for that matter) until he's ready and when he wants to get somewhere, he'll still find a way. I guess our table was in his way while he was trying to look out the window because he made his own route.

And then was so proud of himself!
