This past weekend, we had a lazy weekend at home but had lots of changes in the house. While Alyssa and I ran errands on Saturday morning, Greg was busy changing her crib into a toddler bed which was all ready for Alyssa's nap time. She did great with her first nap and is so excited when she tells you she has a "big girl bed".
Greg also brought the exersaucer out of storage and Jacob is now getting to hang out in the exersaucer which he loves because he was starting to get bored every time we put him in his swing or bouncer.
Along with the big girl bed comes a big girl chair at the table. Alyssa now sits in her booster chair to make room for her baby brother who now joins us at the dinner table in the high chair.
Lastly, since we were making big changes, we decided we might as well go all out and get the hard part over with so we transitioned Jacob out of sleeping in his car seat at night. He now sleeps on a wedge but mostly flat in his crib.
With this said, night 1 was a disaster! :) Nap went well but bedtime was rough. We tried to put a baby gate at Alyssa's door and keep her door open but after laying for a while, she immediately ran to the gate and yelled out for Daddy. Greg eventually had to spend the night in Alyssa's room and she kept calling out for him during the night to make sure he was still there before she fell back asleep several times. Jacob tested out his sleep blanket on the wedge and fell asleep easily but woke up every 3 hours to eat that night. Needless to say, I am still swaddling him again!
Night #2 was a LOT better. We shut Alyssa's door instead of putting the baby gate up and that seems to help as she slept the whole night and once asleep, we didn't hear a peep. Jacob fell asleep around 8, woke up at 11 to eat and then slept until almost 4 - not too bad.
Night #3 was even better with Alyssa still sleeping soundly with the door closed and Jacob going to bed around 8 and sleeping until almost 4 without his 11 o'clock waking. But, Jacob does have another virus and had a fever and a throat infection so the sleep could have been caused by the baby tylenol or overall feeling of yuckiness. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.
